5-Day Floristry Career Change Course
Dreaming of becoming a florist? Whether you're starting from scratch, changing careers or looking to build confidence in your floral skills, our immersive five-day course is designed to give you the knowledge, practical experience and inspiration to take the next step.
With a maximum of just six students, you'll benefit from plenty of one-to-one guidance, individual feedback and a relaxed, supportive learning environment. Over five inspiring days, you'll learn modern, sustainable floristry techniques while exploring the creative and business skills needed to begin your journey as a florist. You'll leave feeling confident, inspired and ready to continue your floral journey.

Course Overview
Day 1 – Foundations of Floristry
- Welcome, introductions and course overview
- What it means to be a modern, sustainable florist
- Flower sourcing: local growers, wholesalers and seasonal buying
- Flower care and conditioning
- Creating a hand-tied bouquet
- Sustainable gift wrapping techniques
- Creating a flower crown and dried flower hair comb
Day 2 – Floristry Design & Colour
- Understanding colour palettes
- Floral design principles including shape, proportion, texture and movement
- Building beautiful flower recipes
- Exploring vessels and foam-free mechanics
- Creating a garden-style compote bowl arrangement
- Styling and photographing your work
Day 3 – Event Floristry
- Creating a flower meadow arrangement
- Designing a large statement urn arrangement
- Styling table centrepieces
- Pairing flowers with candles, linens and tableware
Day 4 – Wedding Floristry
- Planning wedding flowers from initial enquiry through to the wedding day
- Working with seasonal flowers
- Creating a bridal bouquet
- Bridesmaid bouquets, buttonholes and corsages
- Creating a mock wedding proposal
Day 5 – Building Your Floristry Business
- Pricing your work with confidence
- Developing your own floral style and brand
- Creating a starter portfolio
- Instagram, photography and marketing your business
- Quotes, invoices and business essentials
- Certificate presentation and celebration
All flowers, materials, tools, equipment and light refreshments are included.
Each day runs from 10.00am – 4.00pm, with a one-hour lunch break. Sonder Coffee is just downstairs, and Wimborne is full of wonderful cafés if you'd like to head out for lunch. You're also very welcome to bring a packed lunch.
One of the biggest benefits of this course is that your learning doesn't end after five days. Every student receives a 12-month membership to The Happy Blossoms Online Flower School, giving you continued access to step-by-step tutorials, downloadable guides, monthly live workshops and a supportive community as you grow your skills and confidence.
