Here at The Happy Blossoms we love working with the natural world to design beautiful creations. Our studio is surrounded by breathtaking countryside and woodland that inspires us everyday. This week, we had fun creating a unique festive decoration by foraging and using what we already had at the studio. It's so easy to bring the outside in and create something from what seems like nothing!

Firstly, we went foraging outside for some beautiful foliage. We didn't cut anything down, just gathered branches of pine that had already fallen. You'll be amazed by what you can find in the garden! If you can't find any pine, try using other types of branches and foliage or even bare twigs to create your decoration.

Then we brought our treasures back to the studio and arranged our favourite finds into mini bunches. You can use an overlapping method to create the bunch, laying the branches flat on top of each other. Start with the tallest stem and place smaller branches at the front. The bunch can be as big or small as you like.

Next, we tied the end of the bunch together with an off cut of ribbon. You can use anything that you have at home: a ribbon from an old gift, a strip of hessian or a piece of string or twine.

If you'd like to decorate your foliage, dried fruit is a beautiful festive accessory. We already had some dried fruit at the studio so attached some slices of orange using string. You could also use wire to do this.

If you don't have any dried fruit at home it's easy to make your own. There are so many ways to jazz up your decoration, we also attached some pine cones that we found when we were foraging and some cinnamon sticks we already had. You could even leave your decoration bare and just decorate with the bow.

Your decoration should hang nicely on the wall or a front door, or could be laid flat in the middle of the dining table or attached the back of chairs. Here's our finished design! We'd recommend spritzing your decoration with water occasionally to keep the foliage looking fresh.

We hope we've inspired you to create something pretty using what you can find at home and would love to see your masterpieces!
